Intro (what this site is)

This website documents ongoing highway obstruction and traffic management issues affecting Reedfield Place PR5 8AB, a residential road in Preston.

The purpose of this site is to provide a clear, factual record of repeated incidents so that the scale, frequency, and impact of the problem can be properly understood and addressed.

The Problem

The houses on Reedfield Place were built in the 1950’s  but following the construction of the M6 motorway the Walton Summit Industrial Estate was approve in the late 70’s.  Some of the Industrial units use Reedfield Place for access and the road is subject to repeated obstruction by vehicles associated with nearby commercial activity, including car transporters, vehicles with trailers, and auction-related traffic.

New Tesla Super Chargers at the Holiday Inn have has also increased traffic considerable but this would not be an issue if the road wasn’t constantly obstructed by cars, lorries, and HGV’s using the road as a loading bay, despite existing highway restrictions — including yellow lines and loading prohibitions — vehicles regularly:

  • obstruct the carriageway

  • block access along the road

  • ignore waiting and loading restrictions

  • remain stationary for extended periods

These incidents occur frequently and are not isolated.

Impact on Residents

The ongoing obstruction has a direct impact on residents, including:

  • difficulty accessing and leaving the road

  • reduced visibility and road safety

  • restricted access for service and emergency vehicles

  • unnecessary stress and disruption to daily life

The issue is not occasional inconvenience, but a repeated and persistent problem.

What We Are Asking For

  • action to prevent routine obstruction linked to commercial traffic

  • engagement from the relevant authorities to address the issue properly

  • a solution that protects residential access, safety, and amenity

No new rules are being requested — only enforcement and management of those already in place.
